HB 4176 increases the threshold for peace officers to investigate motor vehicle collisions from $1,000 to $5,000 in apparent property damage. It also allows non-peace officer employees of law enforcement agencies to investigate certain motor vehicle accidents if no criminal offense beyond a minor traffic violation is involved.
