Caption: Relating to the allocation of low income housing tax credits.
Initially Referred to Senate Local Government Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, chaired by a Republican
SB 2137 prohibits the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs from using public school quality criteria in awarding low-income housing tax credits. The bill removes educational quality as a factor in the scoring and allocation process for these tax credits, and requires the department to conduct a study on the effects of this change, with a report due by November 1, 2027.
