Caption: Relating to the authority of the Public Utility Commission of Texas to retain assistance for regional proceedings affecting certain electric utilities and consumers.

HB 4668 allows the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) to hire consultants, engineers, attorneys, or auditors to represent the state in regional transmission organization proceedings affecting Texas electric utilities. It requires electric utilities to cover the costs of these experts, up to $1.5 million per year, which they can later recover through customer rate adjustments.
