Caption: Relating to the remote participation of certain persons in a proceeding for the issuance or modification of a protective order.
Initially Referred to House S/C on Family & Fiduciary Relationships Committee, chaired by a Democrat
HB 4696 allows applicants and witnesses in protective order proceedings to participate remotely upon written request. Courts must grant remote participation unless good cause is shown to deny the request. The provisions apply to hearings for both the issuance and modification of protective orders, affecting cases pending or filed on or after September 1, 2025.
