RPT Priority #3: Stop Sexualizing Texas' Kids ENDORSED

Christin Bentley:
"Creates age verification for app store downloads that may contain explicit content."
SB 2420 introduces regulations for mobile app stores and software application developers regarding minors' data privacy and parental consent. It mandates that app stores verify users' ages, categorize them into age groups, and obtain parental consent for minors under 18 to download or purchase apps. Developers must assign age ratings to apps, notify app stores of changes in data collection policies, and ensure proper safeguards for minors' data. The bill also establishes civil penalties for violations.
