Caption: Relating to the use of certain tolls and charges imposed by certain counties; authorizing an administrative penalty.
Initially Referred to Senate Transportation Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to House S/C on Transportation Funding Committee, chaired by a Democrat

TURF Priority #1: Freedom to Travel OPPOSED

SB 2722 applies to counties with a population of four million or more and places restrictions on how revenue from tolls and other charges can be used. It mandates that these revenues be used only for toll project operations, expansion, maintenance, or debt retirement. A portion of any surplus revenue must be allocated to municipalities and counties for road maintenance and emergency services. The bill also establishes an independent audit process to ensure compliance and authorizes administrative penalties for misuse of funds.
