SB 2742 strengthens restrictions on electioneering and the misuse of public funds for political advertising by school districts and other political subdivisions. It imposes a civil penalty of up to $1,000 per violation, with each day of continued violation counting as a separate offense. The bill also removes sovereign and governmental immunity defenses, allowing lawsuits against violators. The Texas Attorney General is authorized to enforce these provisions, including seeking injunctive relief.
