Caption: Relating to the prohibition of certain new mines, quarries, or rock crushing operations.
Initially Referred to House Environmental Regulation Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 5151 prohibits the establishment of new mines, quarries, or rock-crushing operations within four miles of a lake owned by a Texas river authority that includes a national fish hatchery, four miles of a state park entrance containing a cavern designated as a National Natural Landmark, or two miles of a youth camp founded in 1975 and licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Existing facilities operating before January 1, 2025, are exempt from these restrictions.
