Caption: Relating to the exclusion of at-large and mayoral seats from the requirement of re-election following apportionment.
Initially Referred to House Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to Senate Local Government Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 5431 exempts at-large elected officials, including mayors, from the requirement to seek re-election following municipal redistricting. The requirement to hold new elections after apportionment will only apply to district-based seats unless an at-large official's term is already set to expire.
