Initially Referred to House Public Education Committee, chaired by a Republican
Last Referred to Senate Education K-16 Committee, chaired by a Republican
HB 5606 establishes a statewide sick leave bank for school district and charter school employees. Upon retirement, an employee's unused sick leave days will be transferred into this bank, allowing other employees who have exhausted their sick leave to access these additional days. The bill does not override existing school district policies but provides an additional avenue for teachers and staff to receive paid leave.
